Speak of Country - second iteration Bega Valley

Gulaga Dancers
DjaDjawan Dancers

We returned to Yuin country in late 2019 to produce the second iteration of our Virtual Reality experience Speak of Country. This time the project was lead by Dan Morgan, Aboriginal Liaison at Local Land Services NSW. We’d like to extend a very gracious thank you to the communities of Wallaga Lake, Bega Valley and Narooma for welcoming us and for sharing their stories. We spent two weeks in the Bega Valley capturing creation stories from Uncle Warren Foster; learning from Aunty Ellen Mundy and Aunty Colleen Dixon what it was like to grow up in the area; and witnessing traditional dance with the Gulaga Dancers and the Dja Djawan Dancers. We shared some really special moments with community members and even headed out on a boat to meet the local whales! We’re now looking at exhibition opportunities for the Virtual Reality experiences - stay tuned. Thanks to our photographer Rhett Wyman for the beautiful pics.
